Movie Poster Project

This project was completed in Illustration III (Semester 5), and focused on creating a minimalist movie poster using original vector illustration. The goal was to represent a chosen film through simplified imagery while still clearly communicating the movie’s core themes and tone.

I chose the sci-fi film Lucy, and focused on the concept of human evolution, intelligence, and time. The composition centers around silhouetted forms, including a seated woman, an early human, and two hands referencing Michelangelo’s “Creation of Adam,” all tied together with abstract digital patterns and glowing gradients. The poster was created entirely in Adobe Illustrator, using original hand-drawn shapes, bold typography, and a clean, conceptual layout.

This project challenged me to convey a complex narrative using minimal elements, strong symbolism, and clear visual hierarchy, all while staying true to the film’s tone and message.
