Advertising Material II (logo. ads, brochures, specialty items, retail display, etc)
The Bicycle Ad
This project, created in Design Studio I during Semester 3, focused on developing a promotional poster for the McGill Bike Sharing Service. Using Adobe Illustrator, I designed a visually engaging advertisement that included all required elements: logos for JAC, Mac Athletics, and the bike club, as well as critical service details like loaning hours, location, and equipment provided (helmets, locks, and bikes).
The goal was to promote the service’s accessibility and eco-friendly values, targeting students and staff while maintaining a clean, approachable design. I played with typography and cheerful illustrations to highlight the service’s benefits while ensuring clarity and readability. Looking back, it was a fun challenge to balance informational content with creativity—definitely a solid introduction to real-world design projects.
Here it is in vertical form.
The Logo & It's Specsheet
This project was created in Design Studio I during Semester 3 as well; it combines two assignments however: the “Logo of Letters” and the “Logo Specification Sheet.” Both were designed in Adobe Illustrator to explore typography, branding, and professional logo documentation.
For the “Logo of Letters”, I used my initials and the ATÉ acronym to create two interconnected letter designs—one utilizing shared or interlocked techniques and the other employing a reverse field figure/ground approach. The challenge was to maintain a minimalist black-and-white palette while ensuring the logo remained cohesive and visually striking.
In the “Logo Specification Sheet”, I advanced the initial designs into a professional branding guideline. This included a chromatic version using Pantone Spot Colours (ATÉ Fuchsia and ATÉ Teal) and a monotone version for flexibility. The sheet detailed the correct logo usage, minimum size, protection space, and color specifications, reflecting real-world branding practices.
This dual project was an engaging introduction to professional logo design and branding, requiring precision and creativity to balance aesthetic appeal with functionality.
